Dying, or at least getting downed, is an almost certain possibility during your Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough. This is especially true for those brave enough to play on the games hardest difficulty, Tactician. Losing a member of your party can sink your chances at winning battles, so you’ll want to bring them back into the fray quickly. Fortunately, there are several methods to get downed characters back on their feet or even revive dead ones.
Upon getting downed, the party member will start rolling Death Saving Throws. Succeeding on these three times will stabilize the character from dying naturally, while three failures will cause them to die.
Bringing Back Downed Characters
If somebody in your party goes down during combat, you have two options for getting them up. Keep in mind that speed is of the essence, since enemies can quickly kill downed characters. Once you are outside of combat, a short rest will revive any downed party members.
Method 1: Helping Them Up
The simplest way to get downed characters back up is to bring somebody over to them and use the Help Class Action. By default, clicking on a downed enemy will have the selected character do this. This method will bring the character back with one hit point and no action for that turn, though they can move and use a bonus action.

Method 2: Healing Them
Another way to bring back downed characters is to cast a healing spell or throwing a healing potion at them. This works similarly to helping them up, with the added benefit of not having to get close to them and adding more hit points.
Reviving Dead Characters
If you weren’t able to save your downed party member in time, don’t worry, you have a few methods of bringing them back from the dead.
Method 1: Casting Revivify
The most convenient method is going to be to cast Revivify, either from a spell slot or a scroll. Simply select the spell from your quick bar, and then click your targeted companion. This should revive them instantly, but you might run into some problems if they died in an inconvenient spot.
If you can’t click on your companion for any reason, like if they sink into the floor or clip through a wall, you will have to use method 2 to revive them.
Method 2: Pay Withers 200 Gold
In order to do this method, you will have to complete the Overgrown Ruins quest. This quest can be started in the ruins located near your landing spot after the prequel. After the quest, you can speak to Withers at your camp to revive anybody who has died. It will cost 200 gold each time, so most times it’s best to try Revivify first.
Withers can be found on the northern beach in your camp.
