Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch #6 Coming Next Week – Pucker Up!

The official Baldur’s Gate 3 X account (we still aren’t used to that) made a post indicating that Patch #6 for the game will arrive sometime “next week”. While Baldur’s Gate 3 has received regular “Hotfix” updates, this would be the first proper Patch since Patch #5 released on November 30th of last year. These typically-gigantic Patches tend to include pages-worth of notes, and we expect this one to be no exception. In fact, the post announcing the Patch gives us some indication already: Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch #6 will include improved kissing animations, new idle animations for camp companions, more Legendary Actions for enemies in Honour Mode, and plenty of bugfixes.

This is just what we know so far, but — as mentioned before — Larian has a tendency to stuff their Patches so full of content and changes that it is unlikely that that is all will be added, but that’s what we know so far. Given that the last Patch brought us game-changing endings and new game modes, we have high hopes this time around.

This would be the first update for the game since Hotfix #17 made Gale’s diet a little less strict on January 15, marking the longest period without an update since we’ve had since Baldur’s Gate 3 released at about 1 month. Considering how long most games take to update, if they do at all, and how small those updates tend to be, we think that’s a pretty good track record.

Accompanying the post announcement is a short video demonstrating the new kissing animations in action. Larian has elected Halsin and Astarion to fill this role and try it out on each other. And, we’ve gotta say, those new kissing animations look… Well, steamy. Though we have to question the use of Halsin and Astarion — there is no chemistry there! — and would’ve rather seen Gale and Halsin (perhaps under a star-lit sky, fresh boot roasting over an open flame?). But maybe that’s just us.

Regardless, we will have to test out various combinations of kissing animations when this update drops next week. You know, for science (and just in time for Valentine’s Day).
