Blaidd

Game: Elden Ring

An NPC who serves as Ranni’s servant, and who acts as a quest-giver and summon, as well as being a key player in Ranni’s questline.

Blaidd can be encountered several times throughout the game. As well as being an integral (and interesting) part of Ranni’s questline, he also can be a trigger for the Radahn festival, and be summoned for the Radahn fight. At the end of Ranni’s questline, Blaidd will become hostile, and slaying him will reward you with his Royal Greatsword, as well as most of his armor set (except for the helm).

How to Complete Blaidd’s Quest

WARNING: This step, and step 2 (along with its reward), can be skipped if you progress Ranni’s questline to the point where you are asked to speak to Blaidd.

After visiting Mistwood at least once, talk to Merchant Kale about the howling in the woods in order to receive the Finger Snap gesture. If you use this gesture while standing below the tallest point in Mistwood, Blaidd will jump down, allowing you to speak to him.

WARNING: This step, and its reward, can be skipped if you progress Ranni’s questline to the point where you are asked to speak to Blaidd.

At the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Southern Limgrave, Blaidd can be summoned to help you fight Bloodhound Knight Darriwil. Speaking to him after defeating the Knight will reward you with the Somber Smithing Stone [2], and allow you to purchase the Carian Filigreed Crest from Warmaster Iji.

Begin the Radahn festival. This can be done in two ways, either by progressing Ranni’s questline until Blaidd tells you that he is headed towards the Festival, or by resting at any Site of Grace in the Altus Plateau. After the festival has begun, defeat Radahn (Blaidd will be summonable here).

Note: This step is optional. It can be skipped if you complete Ranni’s quest before interacting with the Evergaol, and Blaidd will still appear at Ranni’s Rise (step 5).

After defeating Radahn during the festival, Blaidd has been trapped inside the Forlorn Hound Evergaol (the same one where you fought Darriwil earlier). Interacting with the Evergaol will allow you to release Blaidd, resulting in additional dialogue and lore.

As well, Warmaster Iji has additional dialogue and war explaining Blaidd’s imprisonment if you speak to him while Blaidd is trapped, and after freeing him.

At the end of Ranni’s questline, Blaidd will appear at the base of Ranni’s Rise, where he will be hostile. Defeating him here will reward you with the Royal Greatsword and his armor set (minus the helm).
