Demi-Human Queen Marigga Boss Guide – Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Deep in the western ravine of the Cerulean Coast, where all the Demi-humans dwell, a queen lies in wait for battle. On the shore of a serene bay, she holds court, and when you interrupt the proceedings, you’ll have to fight the horde of vassals along with her royal highness. This isn’t the hardest fight, but if you’re getting stuck, there are several tips to make it much easier.

  • It’s easiest to do this boss fight while riding on Torrent.
  • Pick a summoning that is big, has lots of poise, and can handle the crowd. Or just use your trusty Mimic Tear.
  • Ride around and clear out the underlings before bringing down the queen.
  • She is weak to fire, poison, and scarlet rot.

When pass the Stake of Marika into the bay with all the enemies, go ahead and summon your biggest and baddest spirit ash to help in the fight. There are plenty of options, like any knight, Mad Pumpkin Head, or just the tried-and-true mimic.

Dealing with the large group of Demi-humans is much easier when you’re on horseback, swinging down from Torrent. Circle back and forth while riding perpendicular to the boss, whom will be shooting magic at you. If you’re riding at an angle, most of her magic will miss you. Swing down at your assailants with a longer weapon if you have one (we used a light greatsword). The only real danger here is if you ride into a group and get surrounded, so choose your trajectory wisely, and avoid running right into large groups.

Be careful to not get your faithful steed into toruble

If you’re a magic user, and you’re not having much luck with horseback battling, you can use group clearing magic while your summoning is attracting the crowd. Don’t forget that you can jump on Torrent if the crowd is closing in to escape.

When it comes time to fight the boss, you can fight her mounted or on foot. She doesn’t have many moves, and her health pool is pretty low. Dodge into her attacks and attack her side or from behind. If you can’t get inside to attack, then let your summoning take her aggro, then attack her while her attention is off you. It should only take several strong attacks to bring down the sovereign.

Rolling into her attacks leaves her vulnerable to counters

For magic users, you can simply use Ekzykes’s Decay to give her scarlet rot from a distance and wait till her health depletes. We actually had our mimic equipped with Scarlet Aeonia, and he infected her with rot, which essentially ended the fight. If you don’t have these attacks, then fire magic will work just fine.

  • Glintstone Burst – The boss swings her staff from right to left, emitting a burst of small glintstones that shoot out in a wide circle. This move shouldn’t hit you, but might as well dodge just in case. It’s more likely to hit her minions than you.
  • Glintstone Shot – She lifts her staff and shoots a glintstone magic shot at you. Basic magic attack, dodge sideways to avoid.
  • Staff Thrust – She stabs her stab downward diagonally at you, slamming it to the ground. Dodge into this attack if you want to get close to attack. Dodge away from it if you’re attacking with range.
  • Staff Slam – She has two varieties of this move, a one-handed slam and a two-handed. Both have a pretty big windup, and it should be obvious that you need to dodge.
