Bethesda announces a first-ever Showcase at E3 2015, and gamers are getting excited.
Yesterday on their official blog, Bethesda announced they were hosting their first-ever Showcase at this year’s E3 expo in Los Angeles (click here to read the post on bethblog.com). Sure, lots of big software companies hold Showcases every year (EA, Ubisoft, etc.), but this move is totally unprecedented for Bethesda. They’re the little software-company-that-could, so to host a Showcase must mean something big is going down.

Bethesda Announces…
How big? Well excitement is already running high on the blogosphere that Bethesda will announce Fallout 4 or even (are you ready!) the sequel to Skyrim (check out the comments section on this N4G post to get a feel for the hype).
Back in April 2013, (when Bethesda told us there’d be no more Skyrim DLC), the company teased us that they were working on their “biggest and best work yet.” A little over a year later, Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines went on Twitter and said that the company won’t be talking about its next game for a “long time.” Fast forward to yesterday, and Bethesda announces a Showcase at E3 2015.
It’s almost a given that Bethesda will talk about BattleCry, their new team-based combat game as well as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. There’s possibly more info about the upcoming DOOM beta, or even news about a Dishonored 2 release, but all of these games could have easily been promoted without a first-ever Showcase.
Up until yesterday, I’d been skeptical about a major announcement at E3, even calling a Fallout 4 reveal “wishful thinking at best” in this blog post. The fact that Bethesda is hosting a Showcase changes everything. The company now has the perfect platform to tell the world about their “biggest and best work yet,” and this time I feel the excitement and hype is justified.
The Bethesda Showcase is happening on June 14, 2015. In yesterday’s Bethesda announcement, the company said they’d be saving some seats for us fans, and would share registration details in the future. Most gamers understandably won’t be in attendance, but the Showcase will be streamed live on Twitch (click here).
Make sure to mark your calendars. Anything less than a Fallout 4 or Elder Scrolls VI reveal will be a disappointment I’m sure, but I foresee big news from Bethesda.
