Romance Guide – Hades II

Supergiant Games has done a great job at making the characters in both Hades and Hades II incredibly attractive and interesting (bravo to them). And so, it’s only natural that you might want to romance a few of them. Luckily, Hades II brings this romances back, and in a big way! In this guide, we will go over how to romance characters in Hades II, and which characters can be romanced.

Keep in mind that as this game is in early access, you cannot fully complete any romances yet. We will update the guide as the progress unlocks more. We can’t wait, either.

How to Romance

Romancing in Hades II is fairly straightforward, as it’s the same process as how you build every other relationship in the game: by giving them gifts (Nectar in particular)! This feature unlocks as soon as you find your first bottle of Nectar, and can start building your relationships. However, you will need more than just Nectar to romance a character.

In addition, you can make tracking a relationship with someone much easier once you unlock the Empath’s Intuition Incantation. Once this is done, you can look at a character in the Book of Shadows (opened by pressing ), and see your progress with them on the bottom right of their page. Each heart filled in indicates a level you’ve reached in your affinity with the character, and some hearts will have an extra icon on top — these icons mean that you will need something different.

The full list of icons and their meanings are as follows:

• A heart with no symbols mean that you will simply need to give them Nectar (or Ambrosia, after a certain point).
• A heart with a ribbon icon means that you will receive something once you have gifted them a Nectar.
• A heart with a silver bottle means that you will have to give them Bath Salts and see an interaction in the hot springs.
  • In order to do these, you will also need to unlock the hot springs with the Rite of Vapor Cleansing Incantation.
• A heart with two fish means that you need to give them Twin Lures to take them fishing.
  • You will have to unlock the Rite of the River-Fording in order to accomplish this.

Once you have gotten as far as you can in a relationship, you will see a text in their page that says that the character “wants nothing more from you for now”. Once you reach this point, there is nothing more you can do until future updates unlock more to the relationship.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind while building a relationship. The first is that you can only give any character a gift once each time you interact with them, so you can’t just gather all the materials and max out your affinity at once — you need to gradually build it in between runs. This means that, if you are trying to romance a character, you should speak to them between every run, as long as you have the next gift to give them, so that you don’t have to hoard their next gift.

The other thing is that the character you want to gift may not always be around, or their current normal interaction can prevent you from giving them a gift. If this happens, keep an eye out for them after your next runs, when you can speak to them again to give them gifts.

Romanceable Characters

There are 6 characters that you can romance in Hades II:

• Hecate
• Dora
• Nemesis
• Odysseus
• Moros
• Eris

Note that these are all characters that can be found in the Crossroads in between runs. However, Moros and Eris will only start appearing once you’ve made more progress into the game.

As stated earlier, the process to romance them is the same as building a relationship with the other characters in the game — it will happen automatically as your affinity with them gets higher!
