Potions – Hogwarts Legacy

In Hogwarts Legacy, we will use potions throughout the game, be it for regaining lost Health in combat or gaining an advantage over Dark Wizards and dangerous creatures. Because of that you will need to know how to craft them, where to get the recipes for them, and how to use them. This is what this guide is for — let’s start brewing, Wizards and Witches!

Brewing potions in Hogwarts Legacy is fairly easy: all you have to do is set up your Potion Station in the Room of Requirement and gather the proper ingredients. Of course, you will also need to learn some recipes…

Once we manage to set up our Potion Station in the Room of Requirement, we will want to stockpile as many potions as possible. However, depending on your playthrough, you may yet have to re-visit Hogsmeade to acquire your recipes.

In addition to the Edurus Potion and Wiggenweld Potion granted to you on your first visit to Hogsmeade, you can purchase the remaining four recipes at J.Pippin’s Potions shop.

  • Edurus Potion (Defensive Potion)
    • Ingredients: 1x Horklump Juice + 1x Dittany Leaves
  • Wiggenweld Potion (Health Potion)
    • Ingredients:  1x Ashwinder Eggs + 1x Mongrel Fur
  • Focus Potion (Spell Cooldown Reduction Potion)
    • Ingredients:  1x Lacewing Flies + 1x Fluxweed Stem +1x Dugbog Tongue
  • Invisibility Potion (Invisibility, duh)
    • Ingredients: 1x Leaping Toadstool Caps +1x Knotgrass Sprig +  1x Troll Bogeys
  • Thunderbrew Potion (Damage Increase Potion)
    • Ingredients: 1x Leech Juice + 1x Shrivelfig Fruit +1x Stench of the Dead

    • Ingredients: 1x Leech Juice + 1x Spider Fang
  • Felix Felicis Potion (Reveals Location of Large Chests on the Map)
    • Ingredients: 1x Lacewing Flies + 1x Fluxweed Stem

To craft the potions you will need to learn the Conjuring Spell from Professor Weasley. After that, all you need to do is select your Conjuring Spell from your Spell Slots, go to the Potions tab, and select your desired Potion Station.

We discuss this and where to find more blueprints (Spellcrafts) in our dedicated Potion Station Guide!

Now that you have your Potion Station ready to brew you some fantastic potions, you must be wondering how to actually use them.

Very early in the game we learn about the Wiggenweld Potion, a potion that we can use to restore our health. This potion has a designated button, unlike the rest of the potions in the game.

  • Healing Potion ( playstation down button / G)

To use other potions, you will have to access the Tool Wheel and equip them to another designated slot.

  • Tool Wheel (button xbox leftbumper / Tab) – Hold

The Tool Wheel will allow you quick access to a variety of potions and other useful items, even while in combat!

Once you press and hold the designated button to open up the Tool Wheel, you will be prompted with an interface that holds all the potions you brewed and stockpiled with your Potion Station. To select and use one of the potions, simply let go of the button and tap it again to use your desired potion.

One amazing aspect of the Tool Wheel is that it pauses the game, giving you breathing room in case you find yourself in a sticky situation during combat and you need to think for a second.

Now that you have the knowledge about all of the Potions in Hogwarts Legacy, we hope that you will use them to their full potential in many of your adventures! Let us know which potion is your favorite — our guess is, the Thunderbrew Potion!
