First Person Survival Horror games are one of the most popular of its kind, from the more mainstream titles such as Resident Evil: Biohazard, to the more subtle indie gems such as Monstrum and Soma. What makes these types of games frightening to the core is its use of the AI when responding to your moves and the creation of atmosphere. Lunacy: Saint Rhodes may just be the game that succeeds in this.
Publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Lazarus Studio announced the game early last week, hailing Lunacy: Saint Rhodes as a game that watches your every move and adapts to your playing style. Previously the publishers have worked on other great titles such as Conarium and The Sojourn. For Lazarus Studio, this is their first release.
The game has already received wide attention before its release. An early gameplay demo appeared on itch.io, and YouTuber Markiplier covered the game on his channel, which received over two and a half million views.

Somebody’s Watching Me
You play to seek the truth in the mystery of your family’s murder, uncovering secrets and messages through exploring your ancestral home in Saint Rhodes, and of course, you’re not alone. As you wander the halls of the house and the town of Saint Rhodes, you come across different enemies and spiritual beings that still reside there. To them, you are the intruder.
The game tailors its outcomes to the choices that you make. An advanced AI is included in the game, which watches your every step and changes the way the atmosphere appears according to what you do, to make you feel that little less safe. With this, no visit will be the same, as the game uses multiple non-linear narrative paths leading to different outcomes.
From the trailer, you can expect a game that has been designed perfectly to fit the horror genre, with atmospheric environments and demonic entities. There is so much in this trailer that helps you understand the basis of what Lunacy: Saint Rhodes is all about, without giving too much away on the horrors within.
