HeadUp have announced the PC release date of their upcoming Metroidvania style shooter, Outbuddies, developed by Julian Laufer. Outbuddies is due for release on the 15th October on PC Steam, with a later release date of Q1 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. For more info, check out earlier post here.
Outbuddies uses classic four-way ranged combat, that gives you everything you need to defeat the various enemies youll encounter. There are poisonous bugs and spiky crawlers, that will try to engage you in melee combat while bigger enemies are likely to use both ranged and melee attacks to take you down.
The four weapons you have access to are…
The
Seahorse Revolver,
which is your standard Plasma Gun, unleashing a powerful beam of energy when
charged up. It has good damage and high fire rate.
The
Missile Launcher is
for taking out larger bosses or more tank-style enemies, or for blasting through
large groups of smaller enemies.
The Bubble
Beam, is less for
killing and more for making enemies useful. Trap enemies in a bubble to stand
on and reach higher places. Charge up the weapon and you can fire clusters of
bubbles to stun groups of foes.
The
Corridium Galvaniser
allows you to power-up wall structures, and offline facilities. Charge up the
Galvaniser and you can unleash a powerful dash that can help you climb walls and
reach every corner.
“Movement in Outbuddies is very fast-paced, like
also seen in Hollow Knight or Dead Cells. Controls are also tight, allowing for
split-second decisions and various cancels to survive heated combat situations.
To spice things up, I’ve implemented a (mostly optional) stealth system, so
large enemy groups and security systems can be sneaked-by”, adds
Julian Laufer.
“Your droid Buddy is equipped with telekinetic
abilities to use the environment against your enemies and collect-able hacking
protocols enable Buddy to even modify enemy behaviour to your advantage.”
Outbuddies is due for release on the 15th October on PC Steam, and a later release date of Q1 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. If you want to ensure you don’t miss this, head over to the Outbuddies Steam page and wishlist this, by clicking here.
