RedOut: Lightspeed Edition News

For those nostalgic for the days when racing games evolved beyond tires and asphalt and took to the futuristic, dystopian skies, I introduce RedOut: Lightspeed Edition. Production company 505 Games has recently announced that this exclusive edition of RedOut will hit retail soon. The US can expect it for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 29th, and Europe the 31st.

But what is RedOut: Lightspeed Edition? As I suggested earlier, the game belongs to the category of futuristic racing games. Think F-Zero but with modern-day graphics and slick handling. 505 Games believes that RedOut returns to the heart of arcade racing games. This heart, it seems, is riddled with vertigo, breakneck speeds, gorgeous graphics, and intense races. In short, the game is really a game. The developers ensured, too, that each movement and obstacle had its unique effect on the player’s ship. Physics is central to the RedOut experience. It provides an element of chaos and realism that accentuates the competitive aspect of each race.

Moreover, being made in Unreal Engine 4, the game looks stellar. Each landscape has its own mood. No two tracks are too alike, and each track takes the player to a different part of a dystopian Earth, creating an open world experience. RedOut is a careful blend of chaos and beauty in both its pace and where the game takes place. In short, the game looks unreal. For any fan of arcade racing games or the F-Zero franchise, RedOut is a welcome, anticipated addition to their catalogue.

So, what’s different about the Lightspeed Edition? For starters, multiplayer. Up to six players, either local or global, can compete in high-velocity races to see who comes out on top. Also, players can audition for racing teams. Think you’ve got what it takes to race with the greats? In addition, players can upgrade their ship with new parts and power ups, each part amending the ship’s performance on the track. Folks who love to tinker with their vehicles to get that winning edge will love this new feature. Other new features include events (time trial, survival, last man standing, etc.) and a career mode.

Redout Racing Game Next Gen

So, racers, mark your calendars for August 29th and 31st. For on that day, RedOut: Lightspeed Edition will hit the PS4 and Xbox One. In the meantime, rev your engines.
