How to Join the Freestar Collective – Starfield

The Freestar Collective is the direct rival to the United Colonies, and doesn’t play as much of a role in the main narrative. Joining the Freestar Collective will be the closest thing you’ll get to becoming a cowboy in Starfield.

How to Unlock the Starting Mission

The mission to join the Freestar Collective comes after completing the Job Gone Wrong side mission in Akila City the first time you arrive. It occurs during the main mission The Empty Nest.

How to Reach the Starting Point

After the Job Gone Wrong mission is complete, you’ll be able to join the Freestar Rangers. From the Akila City landing pad, proceed down the path into the city. From the main gate, go into the building straight ahead down the road, The Rock.

Go up the stairs on the right and into the room at the top. This is the starting point for the first mission, Deputized.
